Training & workforce development

The training team at the Birmingham DAAT supports staff from across Birmingham to increase their knowledge and understanding of issues affecting problematic substance users and how working together can support this client group.

The Birmingham DAAT aims to provide quality substance misuse training to facilitate learning, improve the practice of individuals & influence their service delivery, working to help reduce drug related harm.

Our training is delivered by a knowlegeable and enthusiastic training team;

Angela McKenna-Hylton – Training and Workforce Development Manager
Stacey Smith – Drug & Alcohol Training Officer
Ranjit Bhandal – Drug & Alcohol Training Officer
Lee Walker – Service User Involvement Officer
Karl Beese – Training Support Officer

During last year we trained 996 staff across Birmingham including 213 from probation, 141 from West Midlands Police, 131 NHS staff and 67 Housing employees.

Training is free for most workers based in Birmingham within a relevant field. There is however a charge for non attendance. Bespoke training for specific agencies can be developed for a negotiable charge. A maximum of three delegates per agency per course are available to book a place
